Are you feeling stuck in your development?

  • »Playing scared after the first goal goes in?
  • »Brilliant on Tuesday, unrecognisable on Saturday?
  • »Working as hard as anyone on that team and still getting overlooked?
  • »Told to work on quickness for the third year running?

None of that is a talent problem. It is almost never even an effort problem. It is that nobody has handed you a plan, so you work on everything, a bit, forever.

Ninety days from now

Today

Where you are
  • Hoping to make the save
  • One goal turns into three
  • Cannot name what you are working on
  • Sharp by the second period, not the first
  • The coach could not tell you what you are good at

Day ninety

Where you land
  • Expecting to make the save, because there is evidence
  • A ten second routine that holds after a goal
  • One sentence that says exactly what you are building
  • Ready before the anthem, every time
  • The kind of goalie a coach describes as reliable

What peak performance actually means

Certain

Confidence is not a pep talk. It is evidence. Ninety days of daily reps is the evidence, and it is why the belief holds when the game gets hard.

Repeatable

The good nights stop being luck. Same warm-up, same reset, same preparation, so Saturday looks like Tuesday and everyone stops holding their breath.

Impossible to ignore

Coaches do not remember spectacular. They remember reliable. Reliable is what gets the start, the next level, and the phone call.

How the ninety days work

One thing a day

Ninety days, laid out. One thing to do, one thing to write. The next day does not open until the one before is done, so there is no bingeing and no catching up on a Sunday.

Thirty minutes every morning

Mindset, mobility, hand-eye. Ten minutes each, same order, before the phone. It is the same block every single morning, and that is the point. Repetition is the mechanism.

Three checkpoints

Day 28, 63 and 88 retest what was measured on Day 2. Improvement on paper, not a feeling. Parents see it. Coaches see it.

Being honest about it

  • Ninety days is enough to make a different goalie. Not a different body. A different mind. Your confidence, your reset, what you believe about yourself and the way you hold yourself when it is going badly. That is worth more than anything you do on the ice.
  • I cannot turn you into Carey Price. What I can do is show you how a professional goalie approaches their career, their position and their sport. The nutrition, the sleep, the recovery, the routines and the beliefs underneath them. What I actually run, not what sounds good at a camp.
  • It only works if it gets done. One thing a day, most days, written down. The goalies who finish are not the talented ones, they are the ones who write it down.
  • It will not fix your size, your ice time politics, or whether the defence can clear a rebound. Nothing will, and it would be dishonest to put that on the list.

Who is teaching it

I am Connor LaCouvee. I am a professional goalie currently playing in Europe, with experience in the NCAA Div. 1, ECHL, and AHL, and I coach goalies at lacouveegoaltending.com.

Everything in these ninety days is what I actually do and what I teach at my camps. It is the work I do on a hotel floor in Katowice before a game, not theory, and none of it needs a rink you do not have.

Before you ask

My goalie is 11. Too young?

No. Eleven is close to ideal. These habits are cheap to build now and expensive to fix at sixteen.

We cannot get much ice.

Most of the ninety days do not want any. The days that do have a full off-ice version written for them, because the ice will fall through.

They already have a goalie coach.

Then this is the other six days of the week. A good coach gives your goalie an hour. This is the thirty minutes a day that already exist.

When exactly does it open?

November. I am building it now and I would rather ship it right than ship it early. Early access hears the date before anyone else.
